1 Certificate of Retirement (COR) = 0.75 DTUcoin (DTX)
Example 1: You are the marketing director for a medium-sized company that produces aluminum. Your productive cycle uses a lot of water which is being discarded according to legislation. In addition to using new technology in order to reuse part of the water, your company purchases 5.000 H-DTU from a certified water preservation project. With an audited report in hand, you communicate to the market that your company has neutralized water pollution entirely. Furthermore, the retired H-DTU have become 25.000 COR, which upon the minting of DTUcoin (DTX), will generate 18.750 DTX, that can be exchanged at market price. Example 2: You are the CEO for a multinational oil company. You have directed your technical staff to assess which types of emissions can be neutralized using the ZerO2Nature Standard. They come back to you with a list of environmental impact and practices that are leading to emissions of 5.000.000 t/yr of CO2 in the air, 10.000.000 MJ/yr related to the extraction/depletion of oil reservoirs and 2.000.000 t/yr of 1,4-dichlorobenzene equivalent related to water pollution. In addtion to using new technology in order to improve all practices related to the environment, the technical staff lays out an ambitious plan to level out all the aforementioned emissions, which will include the purchase of 4.000.000 F-DTU related to forest preservation in the Amazon, the purchase of 10.000.000 C-DTU related to the non-exploration of oil reservoirs, an in-house project that will lower 1.000.000 t/yr of CO2 equivalent, delivering 1.000.000 N-DTU and the purchase of 2.000.000 H-DTU, related to water preservation projects. With this information in hand, you calculate the number of COR that your company can generate: 4MM COR from F-DTU retirement, 25MM COR from C-DTU retirement, 0.5MM COR from N-DTU retirement and 10MM COR from H-DTU retirement, totalling 39.5MM COR. Upon the minting of DTUcoin (DTX), your company will have generated 29.625.000 DTX, that can be exchanged at market price.
